West Coast University maintains a reference library at each of its campuses. It is the mission of West Coast University’s library to support the curricular and professional needs of the students, faculty, and administration by continuously developing, acquiring and maintaining information resources and services. The University continues to expand its core materials in order to make the library experience more beneficial for the students.
A professionally-trained librarian is on staff and available to assist students and faculty with their library needs. One function of the library is to work with faculty to identify and make available information resources that will meet the needs of the student body. Resources include core reference materials that support the health care programs, online databases, online internet services, and an online library. In addition, the library also has various subscriptions to trade professional and academic journals which can be used as instructional and research tools.
The University encourages faculty to become familiar with onsite resources as well as with other research facilities in the community. Many courses require library assignments as part of the curriculum. The West Coast University library subscribes to the LIRN consortium, as well as E-BRARY, which allows users to retrieve current resources on timely topics as well as a variety of research activities. Students and faculty also have access to the vast resources found on the internet.
The librarian is available to conduct orientations designed to give students the basic tools to find, retrieve and integrate information needed to successfully complete their program of study.
The library hours are scheduled to meet the needs of the students and faculty on a daily basis.
